Freshman White - This weekend, Freshman B was able to compete in the BISD Sub Varsity tournament. The girls came out and competed hard, improving each day. Thursday, Ella Johnson had some good shots during the Robinson game. Mariah Johnson-Roberts stayed strong on defense the whole weekend. In the Killeen and Temple games, Linda Edwards also took some good shots. Against all A-team competition, the freshman white showed grit and growth throughout the entire tournament. On Monday, we will travel to Midway and play at 4:30.
Freshman Red - Day One 12/4
The Freshman A team opened the Belton tournament Thursday against Eastview, falling 23-31. Amaiyah Cruz (5) and Natalie Mott (6) were our leading scorers and brought key defensive energy. Ayla, Mia, Kylee, and Audrey led the rebounding effort.
In game two vs. Temple, the girls came out ready, playing together in a full-court defense and out-rebounding Temple for a 39-29 win. Kylee Pierce led in steals (3) and points (12), Audrey Soosemea dominated the boards, and Ayla W. provided the needed spark.
On Saturday, the team lost a close overtime battle to Roosevelt, 35-36. Anessa Ortiz, Natalie Mott, and Markalya Allen were defensive sparks, creating steals and fast breaks. Kylee (9) and Audrey (15) led in rebounds. The team fought together to the end, with every girl contributing.
JV -The JV Tigers finished 4th in the BISD tournament. They opened with a strong 35-18 win over East View, led by Lillian Baggett’s 14 points and Mia Gonzalez’s 8. Jada Gage and Ella Vaughn contributed on offense, while Saniya Huston and Rylee Tyler played tough defense, and Peytyn Sanderford made an impact on the boards.
They then fell in a close 29-25 game to A&M Consolidated. Jada Gage was strong offensively, and Abigail Corona, Lillian Baggett, and Saniya Huston anchored the defense.
In the third-place game against Killeen, the Tigers lost 34-15, struggling to convert shots. Mia Gonzalez led the offense with hard work in the paint and on the boards.
The team fought hard all weekend, grew together, and now prepares for Waco Connally on Tuesday.
