The Belton Tigers JV basketball team secured a solid 57-45 victory over the Manor Mustangs on Tuesday night, showcasing both offensive and defensive prowess. The Tigers' victory was propelled by standout performances from sophomore Abran Knight and sophomore Gavin Ross, who combined for 33 points in the win.
Knight led the charge with a game-high 20 points, providing a consistent scoring presence throughout the match. Ross supported with 13 points, contributing crucial buckets when the Tigers needed them most. The two players formed an effective duo, helping Belton build a lead they would never relinquish.
However, the Tigers' victory wasn’t solely dependent on their scoring. Defensively, Belton showed grit and intensity, particularly from Habtamu Childers and Keishawn Coles. Both players were key in shutting down Manor’s offensive opportunities, with Childers causing disruptions in the Mustangs' passing lanes and Coles contributing with crucial rebounds and blocks. Their defensive effort was vital in limiting Manor's scoring runs and keeping the Tigers ahead.
With the win, the Tigers improve their record as they continue to build momentum heading into the next phase of the season. The Tigers will be looking to carry their winning ways into their next matchup, which is scheduled for Friday, November 22nd, against Austin Anderson. The game will tip off at 6:15 PM at Austin Anderson High School.
Fans can expect another competitive battle as the Tigers aim to extend their success on the court.
