Varsity at Lorena Tournament

The girls varsity returned to the Vicki Mitchell - Lauren Timmons tournament at Lorena high school this season and, similar to their last tournament repeat, saw growth.

Day 1
The girls went 0-2 on the day against two strong, athletic teams; Brownwood and Kennedale. Both of which ended up making runs in their respective brackets. In the game against Brownwood, the coaching staff felt the team played their best team basketball in the season when they won the 3rd quarter 16-13. Ball movement, rebounding and hustle were keys to the measurable victory. All but one Tiger scored in the loss.

Day 2
In a great response to day 1, the Tigers ran away with a win against Bosqueville 61-40. Not only was it a show-out on the offensive side, but the team showed progress in game knowledge about handling end game situations.

Day 3
The Tigers took on the Joshua Owls in the bronze bracket championship and fell short by 6 points. But again, when keeping things in perspective, this is a team Belton lost to by 30 just last year. It was a back and forth game, but a weak 3rd quarter ended up causing too large of a gap to close, even after winning the 4th quarter 16-13.

Tournament Shoutouts
Isabella Warner and Avelle Bonfoh averaged 20 and 12 points respectively.
Madison Bowling and Avelle Bonfoh led the team in rebounds.
Emma Flory increased her scoring contributions over the course of the tournament.

The Tigers return to pre-season play Tuesday at home taking on Waco Conally.
