In the Troy Christmas Classic the girls varsity snagged 3 wins out of their 4 games to finish their pre-season with a 10-13 record. This time last year, the girls had just won their 3rd game of the season.
In day one of the tournament offense was cold, but defense, especially from Madison Bowling, Emma Harvey, Tyler Waldrep and Ke'Ara Shanks, held Gatesville to just 26 points to open the tournament with a win. That afternoon, fatigue was evident as the Tigers fell to Skidmore-Tynan. In day two, Belton responded and went 2-0 on the day against Troy (38-48) and an exciting 1 point win over West (38-37).
Emma Flory earned all-tournament team recognition with her breakout offensive weekend as well as her poise and leadership.
Other highlights were a offensive game high for Lily Trujillo when we knocked down 3 from the arc in the second half against West as well as outstanding rebounding efforts from Emma Harvey and Tyler Waldrep.
