On Saturday the Belton Tiger Powerlifting team traveled to Waco University to compete in the Andrew Billings Invitational. This meet had one hundred and twenty-two lifters competing in twelve different weight classes.

In the 114 weight class, we had two lifters compete and both came away with medals. Corbin Wittman once again increased his season high to 630 total pounds and secured second place. Anthony Anderson also increased his total weight to 510 pounds in just his second meet of the year. We are looking for both of these young men to keep building on these weight totals and reach the regional meet in a few weeks.

We only had one lifter in the 123 weight class and Owen Rivera narrowly missed out on second but was able to bring home the bronze medal. Owen also increased his weight total to 695 pounds and is now sitting in the eleventh spot in the region where the top twelve get to go to Joshua High School and compete.

Gino Zecca was able to make it to his first meet of the season and showed real promise with his total weight of 925 pounds. This was not enough to get on the medal stand, but we are looking for big jumps next week.

In the 165 weight class, we had two more lifters compete. Each of them put out a great effort but came up a little short in a super competitive class. Giani Zecca was able to put together three strong lifts and come away with 975 total pounds. Thomas Morter who competed in his fourth consecutive meet was able to total 935 pounds. We believe that each of these young men will continue to push the weight and just might crack into that top twelve and get a trip to Regionals.

Now we jump to the bigger weight classes where we had two lifters compete. Gibson Hester was in the 242 weight class and was competing in his third meet of the year. Gibson was able to total 925 pounds on his three lifts. Christian Griffith competed in the 275 weight class and once again increased his total weight on the three lifts to 935 pounds.

This Saturday we will be traveling to Copperas Cove to compete in the Bulldawg Invitational. On this trip, we are hoping to lock up a few spots in the regional meet and also get a few guys closer to that magic number so that we can attack the last chance meet to get as many Tigers into regionals as we can.
