Ready to improve on the subpar performance in the Georgetown, the JV WHITE Tigers were roaring & ready for action in the Shoemaker JV Tournament. Unfortunately, mother nature & the weather had something to say about that by washing out 2 of the Tigers 4 games. When the JV WHITE finally did get to play, it was worth the wait as they played, pitched & hit a little better & came away with 2 victories to build up a little momentum heading into Spring Break.
Game 1: Tigers Cruise Over Cove 9th, 14 - 6
The JV WHITE scored 4 in the 1st & 8 in the 3rd inning to help jump out to a 12-run commanding lead as the Tigers cruised to 14-6 victory over the Copperas Cove 9th Blue Bulldawgs.
Offensively, the Tigers collected 10 hits & capitalized on 11 walks. Jaxon Simmons, Gavin Ross, Gavin Warne, & Benjamin Thompson each had 2 hits, & Warne banged a double.
Defensively, the JV WHITE was sloppy in the field committing 6 errors leading to the 6 Bulldawg runs. Starting pitcher Damin Russ took the victory on the mound giving up 1 hit & striking out 2 while surrendering 0 earned runs in 3 innings. Landon Owens pitched the final inning in relief.

Game 2: Tigers Belittle Bulldawgs JV, 8 - 0
After cruising to a victory earlier in the day, the JV WHITE Tigers were warmed up & primed for Game 2. What was anticipated as a challenge from the older Cove JV Gold Bulldawgs turned into an 8-0 victory & 1st shutout on the year for the younger Tigers.
Starting pitcher Brayden Barrera went 6 strong innings keeping the Bulldawgs off-balance for the shutout victory. He struck out 8, walked only 1 & allowed only 2 hits. The Tiger defense limited their mistakes to only 2 errors, but Barrera was unphased & able to pitch around them.
Offensively, the JV WHITE scored 7 runs in the 3rd inning to add to their 8-0 lead. The Tigers only had 2 hits for the game, but were able to take advantage of 12 walks. Barrera & Ruben Vriseno each had a hit & RBI, & Jay Morales added a SAC Fly with 2 RBIs.
