The JV WHITE Tigers played the Midway Panthers earlier in the season, & it wasn’t a very pretty sight. The 2 squared off on Saturday in a doubleheader with the Tigers hoping to avenge that 10-0 loss. In cool, wet conditions, the Tigers swept the twin bill from the Panthers before the weather really set in.
Game 1:
Fur Flies as Tigers Rally Late, Shock Panthers, 10 - 9
After leading 2-0 the first 3 innings of the game, the JV WHITE Tigers quickly found themselves behind the 8-ball & down 9-4 heading into the bottom of the 6th inning. What transpired with a little luck was a 6-run rally by the Tigers in their final at bat that shocked the Midway Panthers for a come-from-behind, 10-9 walk-off, victory.
Tiger pitching was not as sharp as it had been surrendering 12 hits & 9 earned runs. Jaxon Simmons toed the rubber to start & struggled with his command at times but was able to keep the JV WHITE in the game. Habtamu Childers earned the victory in relief after a shaky last inning. Defensively, the Tigers were almost spotless committing only 1 error.
Offensively, the Tigers had 5 hits & took advantage of 9 walks & 2 Panther errors. Evan Echipare & Jay Morales each had 2 hits. Echipare added a triple. Childers had the walk-off single with 2 RBIs that grasped victory from the cusp of defeat in the Tigers final at bat.

Game 2
Tigers Claw Panthers, 5 - 3
The JV WHITE Tigers scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 4th to break open a 3-3 tie & seal a 5-3 victory over the Midway Panthers for a doubleheader sweep. The Tigers were still batting with runners in scoring position as the game went into a weather delay; the game was eventually called with 10 min left to go.
Starting pitcher Brayden Barrera, who had been pretty solid on the mound for the Tigers thus far, got the win, but struggled a bit with his command allowing 2 earned runs, 4 hits & 4 walks while striking out only 1. He was able to keep the Tigers within striking distance, & the Tiger defense did their part by only committing 1 error.
Offensively, the Tigers only mustard 1 hit, a 2 RBI double by Jaxon Simmons. The Tigers were able to take advantage of 3 Midway errors & 9 walks though.
