JV WHITE Baseball – Weekend Recap: Dragons Lair Tigers, 13-2
Seeking vengeance for an earlier tournament loss, the JV WHITE traveled to Round Rock Saturday morning for a rematch versus the Dragons. Unlike last weekend, the Tigers could not continue the “Revenge Tour” as the Dragons capitalized on 2 bad innings by the Tigers for a 13-2 victory.
The game was a little closer than the score appears for the most part. After a strong 1st inning, starting pitcher Brayden Barrera struggled a bit in the 2nd allowing 4 unearned runs on 5 hits with the Tiger defense committing 2 errors.
With relief pitcher Hunter Hurst keeping the Dragons at bay, the Tigers clawed back into the game by scoring runs in the 3rd & 4 innings, & the Tigers now trailed 4 – 2.
In the bottom of the 4th inning, the wheels finally came off for the JV WHITE as combination of hits, walks & errors didn’t mix well for the comeback bid as the Dragons burst out for 9 runs & an eventual 13-2 victory.
Offensively, the Tigers hit the ball hard, but right at Dragon fielders. The JV WHITE collected 4 hits, yet could not come up with any clutch hits with runners in scoring position. Habtamu Childers had 2 hits & a RBI.
LP: Brayden Barrera (4 – 1)
Leading Hitter:
Habtamu Childers (2 – 3, RBI), Evan Echipare (1 – 2), Benjamin Thompson (1 – 2).
Season Record: (9 – 5)
CHANGE: The JV WHITE Tigers will be on the road again on Monday in a double-header @ Waco High; game times are 5:00pm & 7:00pm.
