Lion Kings - Tigers Feast on Waco High JV in Doubleheader Romp, 18-0, 16-1
Since the last time they took the field for a scheduled game, the JV WHITE had a bitter taste in their mouth for over a week. Unfortunately for Waco High, the Tigers cleansed their palate as the Tigers dismantled the Lions on Monday evening in a doubleheader sweep, 18-0 & 16-1.
The JV WHITE pitched well enough in both games surrendering only 3 hits & combining for 13 strikeouts. Defensively, the Tigers were almost error-free on the evening. Offensively, they capitalized on Waco’s mistakes & were extremely patient & selective at the plate while banging out 25 hits & scoring 34 runs.
Game 1
Tigers Tame Lions, 18 – 0
The JV WHITE scored 5 runs in the 1st inning & never looked back as they cruised to an 18 – 0 victory over the Waco High Lions in Game 1 Monday evening.
Tiger starting pitcher Jaxon Simmons was effectively wild tossing a 1-hitter while striking out 5. Simmons only allowed 4 balls to be put in play, & as a result, the Tiger defense did not commit an error. Landon Owens pitched a shutout inning of relief.
The JV WHITE amassed 10 free-passes & 14 hits with Habtamu Childers & Simmons leading the way with 3 a piece; Billy Young & Damin Russ each added 2. Childers, Russ & Gavin Ross each hit a double. The Tigers scored in every inning.

Tigers Cage Lions, 16 – 1
The JV WHITE started & finished strong as they declawed the Waco High Lions, 16-1, for a victory & series sweep in Game 2 Monday night. The Tigers scored 10 in the 1st & 6 in the 4th before the game was called due to lightening with the Tigers batting with the bases loaded & no outs.
Starting pitcher Brayden Barrera went the distance limiting the Lions to 2 hits while striking out 5 & allowed 6 balls to be put into play.
Defensively, the Tigers were not error-free & committed 1 error. As a result, Waco’s 1 run was unearned.
Offensively, the JV WHITE had 11 hits. Landon Owens led the way with 3 hits including a triple. Habtamu Childers & Ty Johnson each had 2 hits.
