It had been 17 days since the JV WHITE had taken the field for a meaningful, scheduled game as the Lake Belton Broncos galloped across the river for their much-anticipated rematch last Thursday evening. For either team, the keys to victory would be who would pitch good, play good defense & out hit the other. When it was all said & done, neither team had the upper hand as the 2 competitive teams split their district double-header.

The JV WHITE Tigers were a little rusty on defense committing 4 errors in each game, & at times, it looked like a snowball fight as both teams threw the ball around.

Game 1
Tigers Tame Broncos, 8 – 4

The JV WHITE scored 4 runs in the 3rd inning & 3 in the 6th as they were able to pull out an 8 – 4 victory over the Lake Belton Broncos in Game 1 Thursday evening.

Tiger starting pitcher Brayden Barrera was effective at keeping the Broncos off-balance while scattering 4 hits & giving up only 2 earned runs.

Offensively, the Tigers collected 7 hits. Gavin Warne led the charge with 2. Gavin Ross scorched a double, & Habtamu Childers produced a triple with 2 RBIs. The Tigers scored their other run in the 4th & were still batting in the bottom of 6th inning when time expired.

WP: Brayden Barrera (6 – 1)

Leading Hitters:
Habtamu Childers (1 – 3, 3B, 2 RBI), Evan Echipare (1 – 3, RBI), Jaxon Simmons (1 – 2, RBI), Gavin Warne (2 – 3, RBI), Gavin Ross (1 – 1, 2B).

Season Record: (12 – 5)
District: (3 – 0)

Game 2
Broncos Buck Tigers, 6 – 3

Looking to take their 3rd straight game over the Broncos, the JV WHITE fell behind early then lost a 3-2 lead as the Tigers were eventually defeated, 6-3, by Lake Belton in the night-cap of their district DH.

The Broncos raced out to a 2-1 led before the Tigers clawed back for a short-lived, 3-2 lead in the 3rd. The Broncos would capitalize on Tiger errors by scoring runs in the last 3 innings to earn the victory.

Starting pitcher Jaxon Simmons pitched well enough to keep the Tigers in the game. Simmons allowed 4 hits, 2 earned runs & struck out 7. Billy Young pitched an inning in relief.

Defensively, the Tigers were in the giving mood committing 4 errors that led to 4 unearned runs for the Broncos.

Offensively, the JV WHITE had 3 hits; 1 each by Habtamu Childers, Jaxon Simmons & Hunter Hurst. Childers hit was a triple & Evan Echipare had a SAC Fly RBI.

LP: Jaxon Simmons (3 – 1)

Leading Hitters:
Habtamu Childers (1 – 2, 3B, RBI), Jaxon Simmons (1 – 1), Hunter Hurst (1 – 3).

Season Record: (12 – 6)
