The Tiger Tennis Team started off their Fall Team Tennis Season, on Friday, at China Spring High School taking on the Cougars for the first match of the Central Texas Classic.

The Tigers opened up doubles play ready to knock the rust off from Summer Break and see how they would stack up to area competition. The Tigers finished doubles play down 2-5. With a tough hill to climb, the Tigers had a lot of ground to make up in singles. To begin, every singles match was very tight and close throughout the first sets. The team battled hard and played well for their first match, but could not claw back toward the end. The Tigers ended singles with a count of 3-8. The match was called around noon, with the Tigers at 5 and Cougars at 13 matches won.


The Tigers traveled over to Robinson High School later that afternoon to take on the Rockets in their second match of the season. Wanting to get their first win of the season the group was ready to go. Unfortunately, during doubles play the match was postponed then eventually canceled due to rain and lightning in the area.

The Tigers went into the their second day still 0-1, but looked to bounce back against a tough Midway team. The Tigers pushed the Panthers throughout doubles, but were unable to secure a win, and finished 0-7. In singles, the Tigers pushed in every match and lost a handful of close matches. After singles the overall score was 2-17 in favor of the Panthers.

The Tiger Tennis Team ended the Central Texas Classic 0-2. This was great experience for the team to start the season and what they need to work on. They will look to get their first victory next Friday, August 16th at home against Round Rock McNeil. Go Big Red!
