Tigers took the field Wednesday night on Tiger Field excited for their first home game of the year! The Tigers and Patriots played a tough first half with a lot of defensive stops. The Tigers had a few big plays throughout the first half including a called back punt return that was taken to the house, and a couple deep balls that were dropped that prevented the Tigers from getting on the board. However the Tigers came out hot in the second half, and scored on the first offensive play of the half with Matthew Sawe took the ball 45 yards up the middle for the first score of the game. On the ensuing defensive possession, Kendun Johnson intercepted the Patriots QB and took it to the house to extent the Tigers lead to 14-0. The game got sloppy for the rest of the game with fumbles and incomplete passes, but the Tigers were able to hang on for the win!
Big impact players for the Tigers on the offensive side of the ball was Matthew Sawe, Landon Owens, Evan Echipare, and Lyric McGinnis. Impact players for the defense were Gavin Warne, Matthew Fimbres, Kendun Johnson, and Jack Camboia.
The Tigers are back in action at home on 9/19 at 6:30 at Tiger Field to take on the San Angelo Central Bobcats.
