Tigers Fall Short Against Bobcats 14-16

The Tigers took the field on Thursday night looking to continue defending their home field. However, the Tigers dug themselves a hole early when a snap on punt went over the punters head and the Bobcats were able to jump on it in the endzone to take an early 7-0 lead. The Tigers offense took advantage of their next opportunity with the ball and drove down the field thanks to hard runs by Tim Cox and a few good catches from Asa Thomas. The Tigers were able to force their way into the endzone on a short run by Tim Cox to even up the score 7-7. After Trading a few possession the Bobcats were able to take advantage of good field position and were able to score and had the lead 13-14 going into halftime. After the break, the Tigers' defense came out with new life and got a stop on the Bobcats first drive. The Tigers' offense took this opportunity and ran with it. The Tigers were able to put another score on the board thanks to a great throw by Landon Owens and a finger tips catch by Evan Echipare. This score put the Tigers ahead of the Bobcats 13-14 with around 6 minutes left in the fourth quarter. The Bobcats however were able to capitalize off of a late hit penalty that put them into field goal range which they converted to go ahead of the Tigers 16-14. The Tigers had one final chance to take the lead with 2 minutes left. The Tigers drove down to the Bobcats 30 yard line before they unfortunately turned the ball over. Cementing the final score of 16-14 in favor of the Bobcats
Big players for the Tiger Offense were Asa Thomas, Evan Echipare, and Landon Owens. While the Tiger Defense had a lot of players step in make plays a few of them coming from Matthew Fimbres, Gavin Warne, James Barrera, and Kaleb Chaney.
The Tigers will be back in action next Thursday on the road at Cuero High School at 6:30.
