The Tigers hosted the Rudder Rangers on Thursday night. Belton started off the game strong on Defensive and forcing a 3 and out by the Rangers. The Tigers offense found their stride early in the game and after picking up a first down, Landon Owens hit Waylon Wallace for a 40 yard touchdown to put the Tigers on the board first. The Tigers then stunned the Rangers when they kicked a surprise on-sides kick and recovered the ball letting the offense back out on to the field. The Tigers moved the ball down the field well and Landon found Asa Thomas open on a crossing route that Asa then took all the way for a touchdown. On the ensuing Ranger possession, the Tiger defense decided to score some points of their own when Cameron Ellis laid a hit on a Ranger wide receiver, which popped the ball into the air and into the hands of James Barrera who returned it all the way to the endzone. The Tigers defense proceeded to get another stop and allowed the Tigers to get the ball back on offense with 4 minutes until halftime. The Tigers marched the ball down the field, where Landon Owens found Tim cox this time on a screen pass for a touchdown allowing the Tigers to go into half time with the lead 28-0. Coming out of halftime the Rangers made good stand and forced the Tigers to turn the ball over on downs which set up the Rangers only score of the night when they scored on a wide receiver screen making the score 28-8. The Tigers however would not be kept out of the endzone and were able to put two more scores up in the second half with Landon Owens finding Asa Thomas on another long pass and Tim Cox running the ball in from the 9 yard line. Both of the scores were set up by big defensive plays of a blocked punt and a fumble recovery. The Tigers took the victory over the Rangers with a final score of 41-8.
The Tigers are back in action at home again next week to take on the Waco Lions at 5:30 at Tiger Field.
