The Belton Tiger Wrestling Team Co-hosted their first tournament with Lake Belton this past weekend. During the course of the event Belton High earned its first ever Varsity Gold medal with Izzy Avila medaling in the 215lb Weight class. He faced a tough challenger from Cedar Ridge, but was able to secure the gold. On our Girls side, we also earned our first individual medal! Gabriela Magana Avila placed 3rd in her division. She went 3-1 on the day with 3 pins! As a new program, we are constantly setting and breaking our own records. Jacob U'ren set the record for the fastest varsity pin with a 9 second win. The Tigers continue to impress and will be back in action this week. Varsity Boys and girls will travel to Central Texas Christian School on Wednesday to face CTCS and Temple. The JV Boys will wrestle at BHS Friday in a round robin tournament. Finally the Varsity boys and girls will travel to Burleson Saturday, for a dual tournament with many of our district opponents.
